Area 35 is in need of our financial support. As
many of you have heard there were funds taken from the area treasury and now
Area 35 is going to have a difficult time meeting financial commitments for the
next few months. The new area officers are putting safeguards in place so
that this won’t happen again. (Update as of 12/28: the total amount missing
from the treasury is approximately $2200) The
next Area function is the service workshop in Alexandria January 16-17,
2010. If you are planning to attend, please consider sending in your
pre-registration fee ($10) as soon as possible. The service conference is being
held in our zone – so we will be asked to provide some volunteers to assist
with registration and other items. Each
group is responsible for keeping their registration information up to date with
GSO. This is particularly important now because only groups with recent,
complete and accurate information will be listed in the online meeting locators
for the area and for the state of Minnesota. To see if your group is
listed accurately check aameetinglocator.org if your group is not
listed, or the listing is incomplete contact Jeff Cadwell – he will pass the
information on to the area group records secretary and the area webmaster. I
have visited 5 different groups and have gotten updated information for 4 of
the groups. We have many more groups to visit; I appreciate those who
have volunteered to help with this process.
Each committee chair should
put together a budget for the 2010 year. Budgets are due at the January
meeting January 24, 2010. Remember as a committee chair you will have
expenses. Some of these will be travel, literature, etc. As a
committee chair – you should plan on attending the area action committee
meetings held 4 times a year in Aitkin and in conjunction with the annual
spring and fall assemblies. If anyone has questions about budgets or upcoming
event please let me know. Remember there is a
difference between having a job and going to work. We have a lot to do in
the upcoming year, so let’s get to work. And, thank you for all that you
do.
